No. Any individual 21 years old or older who may legally possess a firearm under both state and federal law may conceal a weapon on their person without a permit. Because of Alaska's permitless (Constitutional) carry laws, a concealed carry permit (CCW) is not required, and many responsibly armed citizens choose to carry firearms on their person either openly or concealed without a permit. This is entirely lawful and acceptable and is completely each person's choice. However, others choose to obtain a CCW for the purpose of purchasing firearms from an FFL without having to undergo a NICS background check, and also to provide reciprocity for carrying firearms concealed in other states that recognize Alaska's concealed carry permit.
